Individual Counseling

At Breaking Waves I incorporate a very tailored approach that works best for the individuals in front of me! I particularly love working with teens and adults who are looking for a safe space to be their authentic selves and feel heard and understood. I have experience in multiple areas including anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, mood disorders, life transitions, prenatal/postpartum, and more. My role in this journey is to meet you where you are at, whenever you are ready. I offer in-person and virtual sessions.

Art Therapy

Do you find yourself intrigued by art therapy? I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who is also an Art Therapist. Art therapy is an optional experience that can be offered in conjunction with traditional talk therapy and can be utilized during in-person or virtual services. If art therapy is something that is of interest to you, please let me know!

Art therapy utilizes the creative process of art-making to explore self-expression and improve overall well-being. I incorporate a variety of art materials and directives that align best with the established counseling goals. It’s a fascinating way to engage the mind and body in ways that are distinct from talk therapy alone.

To answer your question- nope, you do not need to be “good at art” to participate in art therapy. Individuals with ALL levels of artistic ability can benefit, do no not worry! Something that I reiterate to clients is that art therapy is about the process, not the aesthetics of the product. What emotions did this experience evoke? Art therapy has a very cool way of exploring thoughts, feelings, and experiences that may not be in the forefront of our brains. This can allow us to explore the items we store in the basements of our brain in a way that may be less intimidating for some than traditional talk therapy.

Qualified Supervision

Are you a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern looking to pursue licensure through the state of Florida and are seeking supervision services? If so, I am a LMHC Qualified Supervisor through the state of Florida and am credentialed to provide supervision services for post graduate students/registered mental health counseling interns. All supervision services are offered at reasonable rates and with flexible scheduling. I offer both virtual and face-to-face services in accordance with the Florida Board.

Choosing a supervisor is super important, as they are the ones you are choosing to mentor you throughout your journey towards licensure. I urge you to ask yourself “what qualities do I want in my ideal supervisor?” That is one of the things I asked myself when I began my journey several years ago. In fact, one of the reasons I pursued being a Qualified Supervisor is largely attributed to the positive impact my own Qualified Supervisor had on me. She provided invaluable mentorship which inspired me to take this step. I am deeply passionate in mentoring supervisees and being a part of all of the peaks and valleys that supervisees encounter.

If you are interested in these services with me, please feel free to email me at kim@breaking-waves-counseling.com with any questions and for more information. I would be more than happy to communicate via email and/or coordinate a time to speak over the phone.
